i found this guy via the beasts! flickr pool for that open call i entered a couple months ago. he's an illustrator from new york, and his work is kind of gorgeous. worth taking a look at.

beasts! book two

the votes have been tallied, and the voices heard, and my painting was not accepted for the fantagraphics beasts! book two open call. this is okay, although kind of a bum-out. but! what's real cool is that someone set up a flickr pool for contestants to post their non-winning submissions. it is worth checking out. there is some good stuff to look at. i would recommend it.
